Open a document

Open iA Writer Pro

To open an iA Writer Pro document, do one of the following:
  • In iA Writer Pro, choose File ➤ Open…, find and select the document, and click Open.

  • For iA Writer Pro documents in iCloud, make sure iCloud Documents & Data is On, then:

    • For Mac OS X 10.8+, click iCloud in the top left corner of the Open dialog.
    • For Mac OS X 10.7, choose File ➤ iCloud…, and find the document.

  • In iA Writer Pro, choose File ➤ Open Recent.
  • Locate your document in the Finder, then double-click on it.
  • Drag the document and drop it on iA Writer Pro’s icon in the Dock.
To open a plain text document created by a different program:

  • In iA Writer Pro, choose File ➤ Open, find and select the document, and click Open.

  • Drag the document and drop it on iA Writer Pro’s icon in the Dock.

Note that iA Writer Pro for Mac uses plain text files (such as .md and .txt), and can not open other formats such as RTF or PDF. Try copying and pasting the text from these documents into a new iA Writer Pro document, or export the document to a plain text (.txt) format from the original program.
